England and Lionesses through to World Cup Semi-Final

The Lionesses are through to the Semi-Finals of the Women’s World Cup following Saturday’s 2-1 win against Colombia.

Leicy Santos opened the scoring for Colombia in the 44th minute, but Lauren Hemp responded on the brink of half-time to send the two sides into the break level.

Alessia Russo put England ahead in the 63rd minute. Bethany England replaced Hemp in the third minute of eight minutes added on at the end of the second half.

The Lionesses will face Australia in the Semi-Final on Wednesday 16 August. In the UK, the game will kick off at 11am.

Australia advanced to the semis courtesy of a win against France on Saturday. The tournament co-hosts drew 0-0 after extra time before beating France 7-6 on penalties.
