Harry on Sonny: “Unbelievable player, great guy, I’ve been lucky to play with him for a while now”

They’ve known each other approaching eight years, are in their eighth season together and started 221 matches together - it’s fair to say, Harry Kane knows Heung-Min Son as well as anyone.

So, it’s no wonder our all-time leading goalscorer spoke about how proud he was to see Sonny reach a century of Premier League goals in a big 2-1 win against Brighton on Saturday. Naturally, Harry joined him on the scoresheet - they now have 306 Premier League goals for us between them.

The deadly duo first started together in our Premier League win at Sunderland on 13 September, 2015 - Ryan Mason scored the winner that day - and a week later, Sonny scored his first Premier League goal, the winner against Palace at the Lane.

I’m extremely proud of him, we’ve known each other for a long time now and I’ve been there to see all of his goals

Harry on Sonny

Sonny hit his ton in typically spectacular style, one of his best, pinging a 25-yard curler into the top corner, to become the 34th player, and first Asian, to reach three figures in the competition.

“He's an unbelievable player, and what a goal to do it,” said Harry. “I’m extremely proud of him, we’ve known each other for a long time now and I’ve been there to see all of his goals.

“Full credit to him. He works so hard behind the scenes, he’s a really good guy and that finish was really, really special. He should be proud, and we’re all proud of him.

“He just brings a good energy around the training ground, even when things aren’t going so well, you can count on him to get everyone going. On the pitch, the way he presses, the way he runs with the ball, he’s such an exciting player. I’ve been lucky enough to play with him for a while now. Hopefully we’ll both have a strong end to the season.”
