"It's not always nice to get a goal against your old club, the city you're from and who you love, but today I'm in a Spurs shirt so I had to get the goal."

That was Rachel Williams speaking to SPURSPLAY after scoring the opening goal against Leicester City Women, and her third in four matches in all competitions, at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, 3 October, 2021.

Substitute Angela Addison added a second on the counter-attack in the 88th minute in front of 2,157 fans.

The victory was our fourth win in a row at the start of the Women's Super League season, which kept us second in the table.

It also represented our third clean sheet in the first four league games.

Spurs line-up: Spencer, Neville, Bartrip, Zadorsky (c) (Ale 55), Harrop, Clemaron, Percival, Graham (Tang 79), Naz (Addison 79), Ubogagu (Ayane 64), Williams. Substitutes (not used): Korpela, Morgan.

We spent the rest of the campaign floating between third and fourth place before remaining in fifth until the end of the season.

Leicester, meanwhile, had to wait until 19 December for their first win - a 2-0 victory against relegation rivals Birmingham City.

In the end, the Foxes did enough to stay up by finishing two points ahead of the Blues.

Head Coach Rehanne Skinner told Spurs TV after the match: "We're delighted with the points. We've worked really hard throughout the games leading up to this point and I think we've got a little bit of momentum, there's a lot of belief in the team and confidence and we've got a couple of goals out of the game that were really good goals.

"To be honest, we should have had more - we created a lot of chances and it should have been dead and buried in the first half in my opinion but ultimately we continued to dominate the game and obviously we got the second goal at the end."
