International round-up: Wales miss out on World Cup qualification

After beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-0 at home on Thursday, 6 October, Wales Women were beaten 2-1 by Switzerland away from home in the decider for World Cup qualification on Tuesday, 11 October.

Spurs Women midfielder Angharad James played 240 minutes across the two fixtures, which both went to extra-time.

Shelina Zadorsky kept two clean sheets for Canada, as they beat Argentina 2-0 and Morocco 4-0 in international friendlies on Thursday, 6 October and Monday, 10 October respectively.

Celin Bizet scored in Norway’s 4-1 defeat at home to Brazil on Friday, 7 October and played 81 minutes of that match, before being an unused substitute for Tuesday’s game against Netherlands.

For Poland, Nikola Karczewska came on at half-time and scored in the 87th minute of Thursday, 6 October’s 4-0 win at home to Morocco. She also came on at half-time in Sunday’s 2-2 draw at home to Argentina.

As for England Under-23s, they drew 1-1 away to Sweden in an international friendly, Asmita Ale playing 90 minutes of that match on Monday.
