Kulusevski: ‘I saw the whole play before it happened!’

Mon 14 November 2022, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Dejan Kulusevski’s footballing brain is something to behold.

Despite being just 22-years-old, Dejan’s understanding of the beautiful game is way beyond his years – and that was very clear, not just during our thrilling 4-3 victory over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon, but also in his post-match media requirements.

Appearing on N17 | The Review Show – an exclusive SPURSPLAY offering which brings you highlights, reaction and analysis of our Men’s First Team matches two hours after full-time – Deki, alongside presenters Ben Haines and Rebekah Walker, provided his own fascinating analysis of his performance as well as our winning goal against the Whites

A game in which he made his first start since returning from injury, we had to come from behind three times in the match against a clinical Leeds outfit before eventually taking the lead on 83 minutes as Rodrigo Bentancur guided home his second and our fourth - a goal which not only saw us claim all three points but one our Sweden international had envisaged playing out before the move had even started.

"Talking through the move that led to Rodrigo's winner, Dejan said: "First of all, I screamed at Patron (Davinson Sanchez), I screamed a lot ‘Harry, Harry Harry’ because I knew that if Harry (Kane) got the ball, I would be alone, and that’s exactly what happened. So, I saw the whole section (of play) before it happened.

"Then my first touch was very good and then I prayed to God that Rodrigo would score. He did, so it's joy, it’s a lot of work, but so much happiness because we worked a lot for this.

"It was so important for us to win the last game. I think we can play much better. I think, for the second half, we have to improve. The talent is there, we just have to bring everybody together because we have a big second half of the season now."
