Jenna Schillaci: “It was nice to take a trip down memory line”

Jenna Schillaci, one of the stars of our new exclusive SPURSPLAY documentary, Broxbourne and Beyond, was delighted to be a part of the special feature.

“It was great to be able to look back and see how far the Club has come from all the hard work that’s gone over the last 30 years to get the team to where it is today,” she said. “It was great to be a part of and it was nice to take a trip down memory lane.

“It will be great for people outside the Club to see how far it’s come. We’ve achieved something very special that hasn’t been achieved by many teams, so it’s a great insight into where we started and it’s incredible now to see the team doing their thing in the WSL and looking to sneak into the Champions League spots.

“When you look at where it started as a grassroots club run by volunteers, that’s pretty incredible and special to be a part of.”

Jenna began her journey with us at the age of 16, playing in the Greater London Women’s Football League. Following spells at Queens Park Rangers, Langford, and Enfield Town, she returned to us and wore the captain’s armband throughout our rise to the WSL.

“I wouldn’t change a thing. It was an incredible journey. I’d be lying if I said it was. We were doing it for the love of the Club and the game and we knew we were onto something special. It was early mornings, going to work, training until half past 10 at night and repeating it three or four days a week. To look back now, it was all very worthwhile.”
