Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett helped England Under-19s come from a goal down to beat Italy 2-1 in the semi-finals of the European Under-19 Championship in Slovakia on Tuesday evening.

With the Young Lions trailing to an early penalty, midfielder Alfie provided the assist for Alex Scott’s equaliser just prior to the hour mark as he floated in a corner which the substitute headed home.

Jarell Quansah completed the turnaround with eight minutes left to send England into Friday’s final against Israel (kick-off 7pm UK, live on BBC iPlayer).

Alfie and Dane both started the match against Italy – Alfie completed the full 90 minutes, with striker Dane substituted on 87 as his side saw out the victory.

Elsewhere on the international scene, women’s first team players Shelina Zadorsky and So-hyun Cho played against each other in Canada’s goalless draw with South Korea in Toronto, Ontario on Sunday. Shelina played the first half for Canada, with Cho completing the full game for South Korea.

Monday evening saw Tinja-Riikka Korpela and Eveliina Summanen start for Finland against Japan in Turku, but it ended up being a disappointing night for the duo as their nation lost 5-1. Tinni played the full game in goal, with midfielder Eveliina substituted on 59 minutes.
