Spurs in Korea - Global Football Development coach over 100 players and coaches in Seoul

Tue 12 July 2022, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Global Football Development (GFD) team continue to spread the Spurs philosophy in Korea - this time coaching over 100 players and coaches across two events on Tuesday.

First up, the GFD team - Chris Acaster, Jerome Baker, Nick Hardy, Danny Mitchell and Shannon Moloney - travelled to the Seoul Foreign School in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, for a player development session.

Here, 45 players - boys and girls aged 11-18, all students of the school, plus 10 prize winners from the Korean Tourist Board - were given a technical training session over two hours, finishing with the chance to quiz the GFD coaches.

Following that successful session, it was a quick dash across the city to the Seongnam Football Centre and a K League coach education session for a group of 50 coaches who work with players aged 10-12 across K League academies. The K League is Korea's national league, and we open the Coupang Play Series against Team K League, a squad representing the league, at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Wednesday (12noon UK, 8pm local).

This education session started with a workshop in the classroom before switching to the training pitches of K League side Seongnam FC and another two-hour technical session with a squad of players aged 10-12, with our coaching team providing a running commentary to support the K League coaches.

Chris Acaster, Senior Business Development Manager, Global Football Development, said: “It’s been an incredible second day on the GFD tour programme. Today we’ve worked with over 100 players and coaches of Seoul Foreign School and selected K League Academies.

"The facilities, quality of football and attitude of all participants has been so impressive. We look forward to supporting the development of Korean players and coaches over the remainder of the week.”
