Watford v Spurs – how to follow, team news, key information

Sat 01 January 2022, 01:04|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s our first game of 2022 on Saturday as we travel to Watford in the Premier League (kick-off 3pm UK).

It’s a repeat of our New Year’s Day fixture from 2017 when we ran out 4-1 winners at Vicarage Road – this time, we arrive there seventh in the table and chasing a place in the top four, while the Hornets are 17th, just two points outside the drop zone.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of Saturday’s match...

How can I watch the game?

Our trip to Watford has not been selected for live broadcast in the UK, but you can follow every kick of the action wherever you are in the world via our live Match Centre here on the website and app, complete with live text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats (kick-off 3pm UK).

BBC Radio 5 Live will also have live commentary from Vicarage Road.

Alternatively, join our official Watchalong on Twitch with hosts Rebekah and Matt from 2pm UK.

If you’re following us from outside the UK, check out the overseas broadcast listings to see if the match is being shown in your area.

How will the teams line up?

Giovani Lo Celso is back in contention after being sidelined over the last couple of weeks with a calf complaint.

However, Steven Bergwijn has joined the injured list along with Cristian Romero and Ryan Sessegnon – Steven picked up a calf problem against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day and missed the 1-1 draw at Southampton in midweek.

As for Watford, Tom Cleverley is available after recovering from a hamstring strain which ruled him out of his side’s clash with West Ham on Tuesday, but Kiko Femenía also picked up a hamstring injury in the same game and is sidelined for Saturday’s match.

Ex-Spur Danny Rose is out with a knee problem while Ben Foster, Christian Kabasele, Kwadwo Baah, Peter Etebo, Nicolas Nkoulou and Ismaïla Sarr are also unavailable.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Robert Jones will take charge of our match at Vicarage Road, assisted by Richard West and Nick Hopton. The fourth official will be Craig Pawson.

In charge of VAR is Lee Mason, assisted by Darren Cann.

Watford will play in yellow-and-black hooped shirts with black shorts and yellow socks, with their goalkeeper in pale green.

We’ll be wearing our third kit, which is primarily light purple with flashes of green. Our goalkeeper will play in orange.

What will the weather be like?

It’s due to be cloudy and breezy at Vicarage Road, with temperatures at around 14 degrees.
