Graham Roberts joins us on N17 Live today!

Sun 09 January 2022, 10:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Graham Roberts, twice FA Cup winner, is special guest on our popular matchday show N17 Live for our third round tie against Morecambe this afternoon (2pm).

'Robbo' will join presenter Ben Haines, Club commentator Rob Daly and Senior Club Journalist Paul Miles pitchside at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for all the pre-match build-up, including breaking team news. The show starts at 1.15pm and is available across all Club channels.

On FA Cup weekend, Robbo's story certainly fits into the 'fairytale' category. Signed from non-league side Weymouth in the summer of 1980, within a year, he'd helped us lift the FA Cup via a replay and Ricky Villa's goal against Manchester City.

A year later, he was fouled for the decisive penalty as we defended the trophy after another replay, this time against QPR.

Winning the first of six England caps in 1983, he completed four years to remember by taking the captain's armband in Steve Perryman's absence for the UEFA Cup Final second leg against Anderlecht in 1984. Robbo scored a late equaliser to take the game into extra time and then buried our first penalty in the shoot-out that we took 4-3 when Tony Parks saved from Arnor Gudjohnsen.

Robbo went to make 287 appearances for us in all competitions until departing for Glasgow Rangers in 1986, winning the Scottish title in his first season. He had further spells at Chelsea and West Brom before stepping back into non-league football. He managed a number of teams including Enfield, Hertford Town and Boreham Wood locally and Clyde back in Scotland, leading the team to a famous Scottish Cup win against Celtic in January, 2006.
