Antonio, Sonny and Lucas up for December Premier League awards

Thu 06 January 2022, 13:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte, Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura are in contention for monthly Premier League awards.

Antonio has been shortlisted for December’s Barclays Manager of the Month award after continuing his unbeaten start to Premier League life in north London with three wins and two draws.

The month got off to a perfect start for our Head Coach as we claimed three wins in four consecutive home outings with a 2-0 victory against Brentford and 3-0 triumphs over both Norwich and Crystal Palace, while we also earned a 2-2 draw in a thrilling encounter with Liverpool. We then rounded off December, and 2021, with a 1-1 draw with Southampton on the south coast.

Joining the Italian in the running for the award are Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool) and Mikel Arteta (Arsenal).

Sonny, meanwhile, is up for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award.

Our number seven was in fine form in December, contributing to five of our 11 goals (four goals and an assist) as we picked up 11 points from a possible 15.

Kicking-off the month with a strike against Brentford, the forward then scored in each of his next three games while he also teed up Lucas for his wonder goal against Norwich – more on that shortly…

For the monthly prize, the South Korean international is up against Leicester’s James Maddison, Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli as well as Manchester City pair Raheem Sterling and Joao Cancelo.

Finally, Lucas has been nominated for the Budweiser Goal of the Month award for his strike against Norwich.

Coming in our 3-0 win over the Canaries on 5 December, the Brazilian forward showed neat feet and speed to slip past four players, exchanging a one-two with Sonny in the meantime, before releasing a rocket-of-a-shot with his right foot into the roof of the net from 25 yards out.

Efforts from Brighton’s Neal Maupay (at West Ham), Chelsea’s Mason Mount (at West Ham), Everton’s Demarai Gray (versus Arsenal), Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette (versus Southampton), Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (versus Liverpool) and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva (at Aston Villa) and Kevin De Bruyne (versus Leeds) are also in contention for the prize.

As usual, fan votes will help decide the winners. You can cast your votes via the links below to give your backing to Antonio, Sonny and Lucas in their respective categories. Voting closes at 12pm UK on Wednesday (12 January).
