Matt Doherty continues his World Cup diary as his team-mates Heung-Min Son and Richarlison prepare to go head-to-head in the Round of 16 on Monday evening...
Now capped 33 times by the Republic of Ireland, Matt still has seven Spurs team-mates in Qatar, plus his experience of playing against a number of countries and players still in the competition. After negotiating the group stage, he will now give his insight in the knockout stage with two Round of 16 ties a day until Tuesday.

What caught my eye yesterday
Matt: "France against Poland kind of went how we expected, France win by a couple of goals, my one to watch Mbappe was electrifying, scary, two outstanding goals and England will have a tough job to stop him on Saturday. Poland scored at the end, a penalty that Hugo saved but was retaken, that was a little consolation but it was pretty straight forward for France. England should have been 1-0 down against Senegal, actually, got fortunate there but once the first goal went in it was a walk in the park, too good for them. Saturday night's quarter-final between England and France will be great to watch."
What I’m looking forward to today
Matt: "Japan-Croatia, I know Japan have done well, but I expect Croatia to have too much experience and know how and will get through that game. I'll be surprised if Japan win that one. Ivan is having a good tournament, let's hope he continues. Brazil v Korea, Richy and Sonny, it's going to be tough for Korea. I can see Brazil winning that, not comfortably, for me, they haven't been that impressive, and I believe for them to win the tournament, they need to get Neymar back. It will be close for 60, 70 minutes but I think Brazil will come out on top in the end."
If you only watch one game today
Matt: "I'll go for Brazil v Korea, purely as we have two of our lads playing."
Player to watch
Matt: "Let's go with Sonny, just to see how he does against Brazil."
My predictions
Japan 1-2 Croatia
Brazil 2-1 (or 3-1) Korea
