Tottenham HotspurHeung-Min Son’s winner against Manchester City has been voted August’s Goal of the Month.
Sonny’s strike made it an opening day to remember in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, packed for the first time in 18 months following the pandemic.
Picking up the ball on the right from a quick break by Steven Bergwijn, the South Korean star stepped inside Nathan Ake before curling low into the far corner, securing a 1-0 victory against the champions. It was his seventh goal against City and maintained his record of scoring in every meeting against Pep Guardiola’s men at the new stadium.
Sonny picked up over half the votes in August’s vote, followed by Dilan Markanday’s super solo effort in the Premier League 2 against Leeds, the second of his hat-trick in a 4-2 victory. He’s since been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month award.
