Carlos Vinicius was only interested in team goals at Villa, even though on a personal level he’ll probably remember his goal for the rest of his career.

The Brazilian striker was there when it mattered to tap home Lucas Moura’s cross in the first half at Villa Park - his first goal in the Premier League, marked by an outpouring of emotion after a tough week for all.

Harry Kane secured the 2-0 victory from the penalty spot in the second half as the team recovered from losses to Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb to step up to sixth in the Premier League, three points off Chelsea in fourth with nine games remaining.

Having provided the assist for his goal, Vini’s friend and fellow Brazilian Lucas was on hand for another assist after the final whistle - a spot of translation for the TV cameras!

"I'm very happy," said Vini. "Primarily for contributing to the group, with three points we know is very important in our journey. I owe this to the group. I worked hard for this goal to happen in the Premier League and today the goal happened, and we got the three points.”

Vini was then asked about Lucas' assist for his goal...

Interviewer: "He's (Lucas) asking the questions, but what about the assist?"
Lucas: "He said about the goal, and what about my assist?"
Vini: "Yeah! I have been asking him for this assist for some time! Thank God he passed me the ball, because if he didn't pass it to me, I would be mad at him!"

Asked about playing alongside Harry, Vini said: "Playing alongside the greatest players is easy. Of course, it is still missing some rapport, but, day by day, during training sessions and matches, we will fit in better."

As for his hopes now for the rest of the season, Vini added: "The next game, already the next game. After the national teams’ break, to think about the next game. To work for the three points. Of course, if I contribute directly for a goal, I will be happier, but the important (thing) is the group and the three points, because we have a very difficult journey ahead."

Our next game is at Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday 4 April (2.05pm).
