Club supports local primary schools with World Book Day donations

We are proudly supporting World Book Day, a worldwide celebration which aims to change children’s lives through a love of books and shared reading.

World Book Day’s mission is to offer every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

The Club is marking the 24th World Book Day by donating copies of ‘20 Fantastic Football Stories’ to local schools across its community.

Created for World Book Day 2021, the book focuses on the true stories of star players and top teams who have helped shape football history. One of the stories focuses on our very own Harry Kane, who recorded a video message encouraging children to join in and celebrate World Book Day.

Club supports local primary schools with World Book Day donations

• The Club is supporting World Book Day, which aims to offer every child the opportunity to have a book of their own.
• Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is donating copies of ‘20 Fantastic Football Stories’ to local schools across the community.
• Harry Kane, who is featured in the book, recorded a video message encouraging children to join in and celebrate World Book Day.

Through the Foundation, the Club delivers a range of creative, innovative, and engaging programmes for people from our local communities, including the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.

In partnership with the National Literacy Trust, the Premier League Primary Stars Programme supports children to become more engaged in reading. Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches help build students’ confidence in reading, using examples from football to explore poetry and communication.

The Foundation has been delivering reading sessions virtually throughout the pandemic, helping the students to stay connected.

David Joyce, Deputy Head Teacher at Seven Sisters School, said: “Reading is our key area for improvement at the school this year and by providing children with free books, Spurs are helping us and the children in these most difficult times.”
