It was a day Esther Morgan, 18, won’t forget in a hurry. After making her senior debut against Everton in the FA Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday, she described the momentous occasion as “an honour.”
Esther, who made the step up from our WSL Academy, played the full 90 minutes at right-back and gave a great account of herself.
After making the bench for the first time against Bristol City earlier in the season, Esther, who linked up with the Wales senior squad recently, has been involved in the First Team environment for a number of months.
So it was no surprise that after the game, Esther was thrilled to finally make her debut.
“I’m buzzing!” Esther beamed after the game. “Especially to play for this Club. I’ve been working really hard towards it, so it’s nice to see the hard work finally pay off.
“I have learned so much from the senior players every day in training, even from just being able to watch them. To be able to play alongside them is an honour.
“It’s amazing, you learn so much both on and off the pitch from them in terms of recovery and what they’re doing, and how they’re playing, so it’s just an amazing experience.”
Reflecting on her recent involvement with the Wales squad too, Esther added: “It’s really helped, it’s been great to step into that environment and push myself with international players, so it’s been brilliant."
