Internationals – elation for Hojbjerg, despair for Wales boys

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg went marching into the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 on Saturday after helping Denmark register a 4-0 victory over Wales in Amsterdam.
The midfielder again played the full 90 minutes as the Danes recovered from a slow start to run out comprehensive winners.
Kasper Dolberg scored either side of half-time before Joakim Maehle added a third on 88 minutes. Wales substitute Harry Wilson was shown a straight red card for a late foul on Maehle before Martin Braithwaite made it 4-0 in added time.
Pierre’s joy unfortunately came at the expense of Ben Davies, Gareth Bale and Joe Rodon, whose journey at the tournament with Wales came to a shuddering halt. All three completed the full game.
Denmark will now head to Baku to face either the Netherlands or Czech Republic next Saturday.
