Introducing our new Under-18s players

Mon 05 July 2021, 13:30|Tottenham Hotspur

We are delighted to introduce the 14 young players who have joined our Under-18s as full-time, first-year scholars.

Goalkeeper Luca Gunter, defenders Will Andiyapan, Brandon Bryan-Waugh, Alfie Dorrington, Jahziah Linton and Maxwell McKnight, midfielders George Abbott, Thomas Bloxham, Billy Heaps, Rio Kyerematen, Riley Owen and Axel Piesold, plus forwards Jamie Donley and Jaden Williams make up this year’s intake and have now started work as Tottenham Hotspur players, joining our existing group of 11 scholars who are moving into their second year of full-time football.

Dorrington, Kyerematen and Donley are already familiar with life in the Under-18 Premier League, having stepped up to make a number of appearances between them in 2020/21.

Our new Under-18s Coach Stuart Lewis led the new recruits at Under-16 level last term and explained: “There are some players in this group who I’ve worked with at Under-13 level too, plus obviously in the last two seasons with the Under-16s, so I think it’s great that we have those existing working relationships and as a coach, it means you can really go into great detail and make sure that they’re playing to their full potential. That’s something that I’ll be looking to do along with Ryan Mason (Head of Player Development) and the rest of the coaching staff here, to really build on those strong relationships even further, but also get them to hit the potential that we know they’re capable of. My belief in these talented young players has been built up over many years and many hours on the training ground and I’m looking forward to working with them again now as scholars, obviously alongside the more experienced second-year Under-18s, who I’m also really excited to continue to push and develop.”
