Our playmaker from Rosario started as Argentina claimed their first major trophy since 1993 by beating Brazil 1-0 in the final in the famous Maracana stadium in Rio in the early hours of Sunday morning, UK time.
Earning his 29th cap, Gio played for 63 minutes, almost setting up a golden chance for Lionel Messi at the end of the first half. Argentina had already scored what turned out to be the winner by then after Angel Di Maria's control and finish on 22 minutes.
