Spurs v Brentford – how to watch, team news, key information
Tue 05 January 2021, 13:25|
Tottenham Hotspur
We host Brentford in the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Tuesday evening (kick-off 7.45pm UK).
The visitors, currently fourth in the Championship, are managed by Thomas Frank, who was Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s coach during his time in the Denmark Under-19 side.
Frank led a Brentford XI in a behind-closed-doors pre-season match at Hotspur Way a few seasons ago, although we haven’t faced the Bees competitively since a trio of two-legged League Cup ties in 1992/93, 1998/99 and 2000/01.
Ahead of the match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, here’s all you need to know...

It’s available to watch for free online, across social media and on the Spurs Official app from 7pm UK, with Clive Allen as our special guest.
How will the teams line up?
Right-back Matt Doherty will miss the game on Tuesday night.
He’ll serve a one-match ban following his red card in the closing moments of Saturday’s win over Leeds United.
Jose Mourinho has also ruled out Erik Lamela, while Giovani Lo Celso and Gareth Bale also remain sidelined.
Centre-back Joe Rodon is cup-tied, so will also miss out.
Midfielders Shandon Baptiste (knee) and Christian Norgaard (ankle) are likely to be missing for Brentford.
Meanwhile, as announced by the EFL earlier today, nine substitutes can now be named in the matchday squad in the Carabao Cup, with five permitted to take to the pitch during the 90 minutes and extra-time if applicable.
Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?
Mike Dean is Tuesday night’s referee, assisted by Ian Hussin and Daniel Robathan.
Lee Mason will serve as the fourth official.
The single-legged tie will involve the use of video assistant referees (VAR).
Should the scores be level at the end of the game, the match can go to extra-time and penalties.
We’ll be in our usual home colours of white-navy-white, while Brentford will play in grey shirts and shorts with red socks.
Our goalkeeper will be in green, with Brentford’s keeper in yellow.
How can I get the matchday programme?

What will the weather be like?
It’s expected to rain for much of the day in Tottenham on Tuesday, although that’s forecast to have stopped by the evening. Temperatures look set to be around three degrees at kick-off, with thick cloud and a gentle breeze.
