Jose Mourinho hailed a “good performance” at Sheffield United – although he felt we could have scored more than the three goals that saw us over the line.

In control for the vast majority of Sunday’s game at Bramall Lane, we forged ahead inside five minutes when Serge Aurier nodded home Heung-Min Son’s corner before Son himself hit the outside of the post when in behind the Blades’ defence.

Harry Kane ploughed on to make it 2-0 shortly before half-time and later curled wide, having seen a quickly-taken free-kick tipped behind by goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

But while David McGoldrick pulled one back during a short spell in the ascendancy for Chris Wilder’s men just prior to the hour mark, Tanguy Ndombele’s exquisite finish from the left angle – the ball looping over Ramsdale despite the midfielder facing away from goal – ensured there were no signs of a comeback from the Premier League’s basement side as we emerged with a 3-1 win.

Again, 2-0 at half-time was not enough for what we built, for what we created.

“I think it was a good performance,” said Head Coach Jose. “Again, 2-0 at half-time was not enough for what we built, for what we created and again, a very, very basic mistake, 2-1 and the game is open again, but a great mentality and an amazing action and incredible goal, but it should be a bigger result.

“There was good energy from the team, consistent, strong-minded, dominant, pressing a lot and I’m very happy with this.”

We set up with three at the back, Joe Rodon coming in for his second Premier League start alongside Eric Dier and Ben Davies.

“We were coming with that – we didn’t come with five, we came with three,” said Jose. “One thing is five, another thing is three, we came with three, Serge and Sergio (Reguilon) were wingers, pressing really high with good dominance apart from a couple of mistakes, but good dominance in behind.

“The three attacking guys played with a great dynamic and Tanguy was really amazing in every aspect of his game.”
