Sergio Reguilon is supporting Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice’s latest campaign to urgently recruit new nurses to care for seriously unwell babies and children.

The Spanish international full-back took part in a video call with two families with children in the care of Noah’s Ark, as well as an existing Specialist Care Nurse, to raise awareness of this vital role.

• Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has seen a surge in demand for its services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
• The charity urgently needs to recruit new nurses to care for seriously unwell babies and children with our local community.
• Noah’s Ark has been our Official Charity Partner since 2016, with the Club supporting numerous activities and events, including the opening of The Ark hospice building.

The Club’s Official Charity Partner provides support for babies, children and young people with life limiting or life-threatening conditions. Last year alone, Noah’s Ark supported over 250 seriously unwell babies and children.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Noah’s Ark is experiencing unprecedented demand for its services across north and central London.

The Club helped raise over £150,000 in 48 hours last year with the ‘Keep Noah’s Ark Afloat Campaign’. With enough funding now secured, Noah’s Ark needs to recruit new nurses to keep caring for the babies and children whom they support.

The families spoke to Sergio about how grateful they are for the support that Noah’s Ark provides, and the importance of specialist nurses in caring for their children.

Nurse and Director of Care at Noah’s Ark, Hayley Manley, spoke about what a typical day looks like at The Ark and the challenges they have faced during the pandemic. Hayley went on to explain in more detail about the role, and the qualities of a Noah’s Ark nurse which include being passionate, caring and helping to make memories with seriously unwell children and babies.

Speaking after the call, Sergio told us: “Noah’s Ark is an incredible charity and they do amazing work caring for seriously unwell children. After what has been a very difficult year, we are proud to support them. We encourage anyone that is interested in applying to be a nurse to do so – it will make a huge difference to so many families in our local community.”

Hayley Manley, Nurse and Director of Care at Noah’s Ark, said: “We are hugely grateful to Spurs for standing by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice during these challenging times. It was so lovely speaking with Sergio and welcoming him to the Noah’s Ark family! His passion for the charity was evident, showing a real interest in our support for seriously unwell children and the urgent requirement to recruit more nurses to care for as many babies, children and young people as possible.”

With over 2000 seriously unwell children, in north and central London who could be benefitting from the charity’s support, the need to recruit more nurses has never been more important.
