• The Club has delivered the programme for more than 15 years with the aim to help participants develop confidence, social skills and aspirations for their future.

Jose took part in a video call with young people from the project, many of whom are currently lacking social interaction due to national COVID-19 lockdown measures.

Delivered by the Club’s Foundation for more than 15 years, To Care Is To Do aims to enable participants to:

• Achieve better results at school.
• Feel confident and positive about their own futures.
• Develop new and existing skills.
• Raise awareness around healthy living and active lifestyles.
• Prepare for independence and adulthood.

During the session, Jose spoke about what motivation means to him, how he deals with nerves and the importance of mentors. The participants also had the opportunity to ask him some questions of their own.

Speaking after the session, Jose said: “It was great to join participants from the To Care Is To Do project today and I really enjoyed the conversations that we had together. Now, more than ever, in such a challenging climate it is vital that we do all we can to help young people achieve their goals and, as the Head Coach of this Club, I am proud of the great work that the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation continues to do to help children in care and enhance their education outcomes. I look forward to attending many more mentoring sessions with them throughout the year ahead.”

One participant commented: “It was brilliant to meet Jose today. He gave the group some great advice about how to stay positive and the importance of setting your own objectives. The whole group are already looking forward to seeing and working with him again.”
