Antonio Conte knows exactly what’s in store against Southampton at St Mary’s today (3pm).

Speaking about Ralph Hassenhuttl’s team directly after our 3-0 win against Palace on Boxing Day - and just after the Saints had won at West Ham - Antonio told us: “We are talking about a really good team.

“The manager is working very well, they play with important intensity, and you have to be prepared otherwise you’ll suffer a lot against them.”

Southampton have lost just one of their last five and drew against Leicester and Brighton in their last two home matches in the Premier League.

We’ve been in fine form under Antonio Conte, who remains unbeaten in Premier League action with five wins and two draws since arriving in November.

I repeat, it won’t be easy, but we have the right confidence

This turn around of matches in 48 hours is the toughest physical test of the festive period – how did Antonio go about preparing the team for St Mary’s?

Again, speaking on Boxing Day, he explained: “To have only tomorrow (Monday) to prepare for the game is not easy, but at the same time this situation is for all the teams. The players have to rest, to recover really well, then we have training to prepare for the game.

“I repeat, it won’t be easy, but we have the right confidence. Now, we have to enjoy that we got three points, a good performance (against Palace), but at the same time, we have to know that in two days we have to recover to play very well, otherwise we will ruin what we are doing.”
