Spurs v Watford – how to follow, team news, key information

Sun 29 August 2021, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Newly-promoted Watford return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon as the opponents in our third Premier League match of the season (kick-off 2pm UK).

Following back-to-back 1-0 wins on the domestic scene at home to Manchester City and away to Wolves, we can go into the first international break of 2021/22 with a 100 per cent record and as league leaders if we’re able to see off the Hornets in N17.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the action getting underway...

How can I watch the game?

Our match has not been selected for broadcast in the UK, but you can still follow the action if you’re not watching it in person at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Our live Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app provides you with live text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats at your fingertips, meaning you won’t miss a kick.

You can also follow our coverage on Twitter @SpursOfficial, or join our Watchalong on Twitch – head to twitch.tv/tottenhamhotspur from 1pm UK to comment on and debate all the action with hosts Rebekah and Matt.

For all the live build-up and reaction from inside the stadium, you can also tune in to N17 Live, our exclusive pre- and post-match show. It’s available to watch for free online, across social media and on the app from 1.15pm UK.

If you want to see the goals, we’ll be first to bring you video highlights here on the website and the app, two hours after the game.

Supporters attending the match can find all the latest travel information here.

Please also read the latest important information on stadium entry requirements here. Remember, supporters are required to prove their fully vaccinated status or a negative test result no more than 48 hours prior to kick-off using their NHS COVID Pass via the NHS App. Supporters unable to provide proof upon request will not be allowed entry to the stadium.

How will the teams line up?

Defenders Joe Rodon and Cameron Carter-Vickers are the only injury concerns for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Watford will be without Nathaniel Chalobah, Dan Gosling and Joao Pedro, while Juraj Kucka is a doubt over a thigh problem.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster is also sidelined with a hamstring injury, while new signing Ozan Tufan is not yet available.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Andre Marriner is due to officiate Sunday’s match, with Simon Long and Eddie Smart as his assistants.

Graham Scott will be the fourth official while Jarred Gillett serves as the VAR, assisted by James Mainwaring.

We’ll be in our new Nike 2021/22 home kit of Lilywhite shirts with navy blue shorts and socks, with our goalkeeper in all green.

Watford will play in yellow shirts with black hoops, black shorts and yellow socks, with their keeper in red.

What about the matchday programme?

Our ever-popular matchday programme will once again be on sale at the game, priced at the usual £3.50. It’s available from all Tap Inn counters around the stadium and external pods situated at Paxton House, the South Podium, Park Lane Square and Worcester Avenue.

Supporters not attending the match can order a copy online here, for delivery direct to your door.

Sunday’s programme includes an exclusive interview with Hugo Lloris, who broke the record for the highest amount of Premier League appearances of any player in a Spurs shirt last weekend when he clocked up his 300th top-flight game for us at Wolves.

What will the weather be like?

It’ll be a dry and bright day in north London on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to be around 19 degrees when the match gets underway.
