Two of our players have made it through to the gold medal matches at the Olympic Games in Japan.

Women’s first team captain Shelina Zadorsky was part of the Canada squad that secured an historic victory over USA in the semi-finals of the women’s section on Monday.

Shelina was on the bench as her nation won 1-0, courtesy of a second-half penalty.

Canada will now face Sweden, who beat Australia in the other semi-final, for gold at 3am UK time on Friday (6 August).

Meanwhile, Bryan Gil’s Spain will take on Brazil in the men’s gold medal match after overcoming hosts Japan on Tuesday.

Bryan wasn’t involved in the 1-0 extra time victory but will nevertheless be full of optimism ahead of Saturday’s final match against Brazil, who beat Mexico on penalties in their semi-final. Kick-off is at 12.30pm UK.
