Carabao Cup Final – how to watch, team news, key information

Sat 24 April 2021, 16:10|Tottenham Hotspur

We return to Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon to compete for silverware, with Manchester City our opponents in the Carabao Cup Final (kick-off 4.30pm UK).

Having seen our scheduled third round tie against Leyton Orient called off because of an outbreak of COVID-19 at the League Two club earlier in the season, we subsequently beat Chelsea on penalties at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in round four, before victories over Stoke City and Brentford saw us book our place in this weekend’s showpiece match.

City have seen off Bournemouth, Burnley, Arsenal and Manchester United to reach this stage, having won the competition in each of the last three seasons.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the match...

How can I watch the game?

A total of 8,000 spectators will be inside Wembley, with the match serving as a test event for the government on the route out of lockdown. We’ve been allocated tickets for 2,000 of our fans.

How will the teams line up?

Interim Head Coach Ryan Mason reported on Friday that Harry Kane has been making progress in his bid to return to fitness after limping off against Everton last week.

Left-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman remain out injured while centre-half Joe Rodon is cup-tied, but right-back Matt Doherty is back in training and available for selection.

Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne are both in contention to return for Manchester City. Aguero has missed City’s last four games through injury, while De Bruyne missed the midweek win over Aston Villa after he picked up a knock in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

Teams can name up to nine substitutes each, using a maximum of five throughout the game, including in extra time if an additional 30 minutes are required.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Paul Tierney will referee the Final, assisted by Lee Betts and Constantine Hatzidakis.

Peter Bankes will be the fourth official.

City will play in their usual sky blue shirts with white shorts and sky blue socks, with their keeper in pink.

We’ll be in our away kit, featuring dark green shirts, black shorts and dark green socks, with our keeper in orange. Our away kit is currently available with 30 per cent off in our online store.

How can I get the matchday programme?

The EFL have produced an A4-sized collector’s edition matchday programme for the Final. The 68-page commemorative publication is available for £6.

You can reserve your copy here.

What will the weather be like?

It’s forecast to be a sunny day at Wembley on Sunday, with temperatures reaching 13 degrees around the time the match gets underway.
