Young midfielder triumphs as Under-18s test their baking skills!

Our Under-18s players swapped their boot bags for baking trays last week to take part in a specially-arranged ‘bake-off’.

Tasked with producing either a full-sized cake or a collection of cupcakes, each player had to bake and decorate his own entry at home before returning to the Training Centre, where members of our Academy coaching team joined the Hotspur Way catering staff to judge the best.

In the end, it was Michael Craig, 16, who was crowned the winner – he received a gift voucher and a signed copy of ‘Galvin: A Cookbook de Luxe’, the official cookbook of Michelin-starred chef brothers Chris and Jeff Galvin, who of course also have a presence in our new stadium.

Chay Cooper was runner-up, with Nile John in third.

The cakes were subsequently sold to staff for a donation, with funds raised going to our Official Charity Partner, Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.

The activity formed part of our player care programme, which encourages Academy players to learn new skills which can be used in later life.
