Lucas: "We don't have time to cry..."

Mon 02 March 2020, 14:17|Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Moura let out a huge sigh. “This is a bad feeling,” he said, before the cameras started rolling. That moment encapsulated all he needed to say, really, after Wolves took a 3-2 win and the Premier League points back to Molineux on Sunday. Defeat hurts.

“I’m really sad because I thought we played really well, much better than in the last few games, and we deserved to win,” he said. “Football is like this sometimes, you play better and you lose.”

Lucas buzzed about as we took a 2-1 lead into half-time thanks to Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier. Dele came so close to making it 3-1 after 55 minutes but Wolves were level two minutes later before completing the comeback via Raul Jimenez on 73.

There are a lot of games ahead and we have time, we still have the opportunity to go to the top four, so let’s fight

“We played well, we had control, good possession but football... you need to concentrate for 90 minutes,” added Lucas. “The second you lose concentration, the opponent can score, and that’s what happened.

“We scored two goals and we could keep the result, but we made some small mistakes that were very expensive. That’s football. We have another important game on Wednesday. Today was much better and we need to keep improving like this.”

Next up in this huge 10 days, Norwich City in the FA Cup fifth round at home on Wednesday night (7.45pm). We then travel to Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday (5.30pm) before travelling to Germany and our Champions League Round of 16, second leg against RB Leipzig on Tuesday week (10 March, 8pm).

“We don’t have time to cry,” stated the Brazilian. “Wednesday is a massive game for us, a massive opportunity to keep going in the FA Cup. We’ll make sure we’re ready.”
