Junior member Katelyn becomes a reporter for the day!

Thu 05 March 2020, 14:45|Tottenham Hotspur

One Hotspur Junior member Katelyn Cole won a fantastic chance to join us as our Matchday Reporter for the home Premier League match against Wolves on Sunday.

Our latest One Hotspur Moment saw competition-winner Katelyn, 14, and her grandad Colin join our matchday commentary team on the press gantry at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was Katelyn’s debut at our new home and, although the result didn’t go our way, she enjoyed a fantastic experience. She takes up the story in her own words below.

My day as a Matchday Reporter

By Katelyn Cole

“My first time at our new stadium was definitely one to remember. I arrived very early and spent some time in the shop and bought a Bergwijn shirt!

“However, my experience really started when I met Gareth, our chaperone. He was an extremely friendly person and immediately made me feel welcome. We then met the photographer, Ben, and together we went pitchside to have our photos taken. I never thought I would get such a fantastic view of the ground.

“One of the surprises of the day was listening to the commentators, Gareth and Daniel, doing the audio descriptive commentary. I didn’t realise this type of commentary existed. It’s a great use of technology and really helps the visually impaired fans.

“The one thing I didn’t expect was to sit in a press conference with Jose Mourinho. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I sat there with our chaperone Myri and my grandad who I then had pictures with. It was a shame about the result but I wanted to thank the Spurs team for an amazing experience.”
