Benoit Assou-Ekotto didn't do tap-ins.

Three of his four goals in a Spurs career spanning eight years (2006-2014) and 201 appearances in all competitions were humdingers.

His first was against Liverpool on the opening day of the 2009/10 campaign, a rocket into the top corner from 25 yards and his second, here against Everton, simply flew in after he pulled the trigger from 30 yards. Okay, his third Spurs goal was a more of a tap-in against Newcastle in February, 2012 but his fourth and last was back to type, a rifle into the bottom corner from 25 yards against West Brom in August, 2013.

This day in January, 2012 was one to remember for the Cameroon international left-back, as he also set-up Aaron Lennon's opener with a searching crossfield pass. We were flying at the time as well - this win continued a run of one defeat in 19 in the Premier League - and we'd eventually finish fourth in the season famed for Sergio Aguero's late, late title-winning goal for Manchester City.
