Martin Peters, RIP

Thu 16 January 2020, 16:00|Tottenham Hotspur

The footballing world said goodbye to the great Martin Peters at his funeral in Brentwood this afternoon.

Martin, who joined us from West Ham in 1970 after scoring in England's World Cup Final triumph four years before, died on 21 December following illness. He had also served the club between 1998-2002 as a non-executive director with special responsibility for supporter liaison.

We were well represented by his former Spurs team mates Steve Perryman, Pat Jennings, Martin Chivers, Joe Kinnear, Phil Beal and John Pratt, plus Clive and Paul Allen and Tony Galvin.

Director Donna-Maria Cullen was also in attendance together with Club Historian John Fennelly and representatives from West Ham United and Norwich City, including Geoff Hurst, Trevor Brooking and Roger Cross.

We extend our sincere condolences to Martin’s family and friends at this very sad time. The footballing world has lost a true legend who gave so much to the game.
