Jan: “We have everything to play for”

Wed 08 January 2020, 16:10|Tottenham Hotspur

Jan Vertonghen has seen it all before - and he’s looking forward.

The defender with over seven years and 303 appearances under his belt at Spurs is well aware that we’re going through a testing time at the moment.

But Belgium’s record cap (118), who joined us from Ajax in 2012, isn’t interested in walking down a negative path.

The top four is in sight, we’re in the next round of the Champions League and everything is still to play for in the FA Cup.

Speaking after training on Tuesday, Jan told us: “It’s a tough spell, that’s true, but the most important thing is that we have confidence in ourselves, the manager and everyone around the Club to get back to winning ways. I feel all the ingredients are here.

“In my career, I’ve known ups and downs... look, we haven’t won in our last three games, but I don’t want to have the conversation that we’re down, I still feel we have everything to play for.

“The top four is in sight, we’re in the next round of the Champions League (we play RB Leipzig in the last 16 on 19 February/10 March) and everything is still to play for in the FA Cup, so at the end of the day, nothing major, and we push on.”
