Talk about laying down a marker! With an impressive opening day victory over Liverpool already under our belts, we turned on the style this August evening on Humberside.

Jermain Defoe led the way with a hat-trick, with the strike that secured his treble as clean a hit as you'll see. Robbie Keane also netted and our other goalscorer could be a quiz question - who scored his only Spurs goal that night at the KC? Wilson Palacios, of course!

We were firing at the time. We won our first four games, Robbie would soon grab four goals against Burnley - that feat then toppled by Jermain's five against Wigan. Indeed, 'JD' went on to score 24 in all competitions in 2009/10, his best in a season for us.

As we all know, the campaign ended in triumph as we qualified for the Champions League for the first time. It all started in August, 2009...
