Internationals – Eriksen heading for Euro 2020

Mon 18 November 2019, 22:53|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen helped Denmark secure their place at Euro 2020 with a 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Monday night.

The midfielder played 90 minutes for the Danes, who knew that a point would be enough to take them through automatically from qualifying Group D.

Ireland, for whom young striker Troy Parrott was an unused substitute, could have gone through with a win, but will now be forced to settle for a place in the play-offs.

Elsewhere on Monday, midfielder Victor Wanyama started for Kenya as they drew 1-1 with Togo in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Nairobi.

Giovani Lo Celso and Juan Foyth were both unused substitutes as Argentina salvaged a late 2-2 draw against Uruguay in a friendly match in Israel.

And in youth international action, left-back Dennis Cirkin started and completed 84 minutes of England Under-18s’ 1-0 win over Czech Republic in Spain.
