Internationals – vital win for Wanyama

Victor Wanyama’s Kenya twice came from a goal down to register a crucial victory over Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Thursday night.

Trailing 1-0 after only six minutes and 2-1 at half-time, Kenya staged a second-half turnaround to win 3-2 in Cairo and put their first three points on the board in Group C.

Victor captained the side as usual and played the full 90 minutes.

Having lost to group leaders Algeria on matchday one, Kenya now need to beat second-placed Senegal on Monday (1 July, kick-off 8pm UK time) to be sure of a spot in the knockout stages.

A third-place finish could also be enough to qualify, based on their ranking against the teams who finish third in the other groups.
