Mauricio Pochettino hopes players and fans alike can enjoy a positive experience in our first daytime game in the new stadium on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town are the visitors as we look to make it three wins in a row in all competitions since moving into Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 3 April.

Crystal Palace and Manchester City have been put to the sword under the lights so far without conceding a goal but, with the already-relegated Terriers in town for a lunchtime kick-off, we’ll be able to appreciate our world-class new venue in all its glory this weekend.

“It will be a new experience for everyone and we hope that we spend a very nice time together,” said Mauricio.

“We hope that we can keep going and winning games, helping us to achieve the things that we want.

“Of course, we are very excited to enjoy the new stadium again with our fans who were fantastic against Palace and against Manchester City. They helped us to achieve those two amazing victories, they were so important and we hope they will help us again on Saturday in the same way.”

Last week, Huddersfield lost 4-1 at home to Leicester City, contributing to an unfortunate run of 18 defeats in their last 20 league matches. Their relegation back to the Championship was confirmed on 30 March with a 2-0 loss at Palace.

Asked how we’ll approach a game against a team whose Premier League fate has already been sealed, Mauricio replied: “Always with all the respect. It can be a difficult game because you don’t know how they’re going to approach it and the most important thing is to be focused on our performance.

We need the three points to be sure to keep a good position in the table in the Premier League and of course we are excited again to play in front of our fans.

Mauricio Pochettino on Saturday's match

“For us, it’s such an important game. We need the three points to be sure to keep a good position in the table in the Premier League and of course we are excited again to play in front of our fans in our new stadium.”

Are all six remaining games in the top flight must-win for us? Mauricio thinks so.

“Yes, for us and for our opponents too because if we want to be in the Champions League next season, we need all the points that we can get in the next six games,” he said.

“We need to start tomorrow and of course it’s going to be tough but I think the motivation and the trust is there – and the belief too. We are going to try to get the three points tomorrow.”
