Winks among five in England squad

Harry Winks has earned an England recall as one of five Spurs players in the Three Lions squad for the latest round of international matches.

After making his senior England debut against Lithuania in a World Cup qualifier in October last year, ‘Winksy’ was unable to take part in the November, 2017, internationals due to injury and hasn’t been seen in the international picture since then.

Now, having shaken off the ankle issues that plagued him for much of the second half of the 2017/18 season, he’s back in Gareth Southgate’s squad ahead of UEFA Nations League matches away to Croatia (Friday 12 October) and Spain (Monday 15 October), joined by England regulars Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier.

Dele Alli is currently sidelined through injury.
