The stats say all you need to know about Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine hitman has scored 332 goals in 594 appearances for Independiente, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

He became City's all-time record goalscorer last November and now has 208 goals in 304 matches for the reigning champions.

Three times a title-winner with City - including that famous injury time winner against QPR to clinch the title on the last day of the 2011/12 season - Aguero, now 30, recently signed an extension to his contract that will take him to 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.

Here Ossie Ardiles, Spurs legend, Club Ambassador and World Cup winner with Argentina in 1978, gives his thoughts on City's dangerman ahead of tonght's clash at Wembley.

Ossie on Aguero

Ossie: "Sergio is an outstanding player and always has been, right from the beginning when he was very young at Independiente, one of biggest clubs in Argentina. He was in the first team from a very young age (he made his debut aged 15) and immediately, he scored goals. He was transferred to Atletico Madrid in 2006, scored goals there and now he’s at Manchester City doing exactly the same thing. He's an incredible goalscorer."

He has that instinct to score goals.... sometimes, he’s doing absolutely nothing and out of nowhere, he will produce a goal

Ossie Ardiles on Sergio Aguero

Basic instinct

Ossie: "Like all great goalscorers, he has that instinct in front of goal. This is the main thing. Sometimes, he’s doing absolutely nothing and out of nowhere, he will produce a goal. For some players, when they want to score a goal, it has to be elaborate, perhaps they have to think about it but for him, it’s instinct. Technically, he’s very gifted, he’s quick, he can play right foot, left foot – he’s right-footed but can use the left as well.

"He’s not a big guy, more or less my height, but he’s very good in the air as well. (Look at) his awareness of where to go as well. For example, if he sees the ball go to the flank when his team is attacking, watch his movement, it’s to the near post, the far post, he’s always asking questions of the defenders and the majority of the time, he’ll be first to the ball. He’s very, very dangerous."

How do you stop Aguero?

Ossie: "It’s not going to be the job of one man - it’s the job of the defence as a unit. To be fair, our defenders will be very aware of how to handle him. You have to have an eye on him all the time because if you give him a little advantage, he will take it. Fingers crossed then, we have wonderful defenders and it will be the job of the team - stop the crosses, stop the service, stop the ball coming through the midfield. We have to make it very difficult for him."

To sum up...

Ossie: "Sergio is very much like Harry Kane, who also knows instinctively where the goal is. His business is to score goals, again like Harry. Yet both players are not only goalscorers - they can play as well. What more can I say? Sergio is a wonderful, wonderful player."
