Oxford next in Checkatrade Trophy

Fri 16 November 2018, 13:41|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Development Squad have been handed an away tie to Oxford United in the second round of this season’s Checkatrade Trophy.

League One side Oxford entered the second round draw, held on Friday afternoon, following two wins out of their three games in Southern Group F. The U’s started their campaign with a 3-0 win over Fulham’s Under-21 side before they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Northampton Town. Another 3-0 win in their final game against Wycombe Wanderers saw Karl Robinson’s side top their group.

We reached the next stage of the competition for the first time after finishing second behind Portsmouth in Southern Group A. Wayne Burnett’s team picked up a point on matchday one in a 1-1 draw against Crawley Town (lost 5-3 on penalties) before storming to a 4-0 victory over Gillingham. Our progress was ensured on Tuesday night where, despite a narrow 3-2 defeat at Portsmouth, Gillingham’s win over Crawley in the group’s other game was enough to earn us a spot in the second round.

Ties are set to be played in the week commencing 3 December. An exact date and ticket details for the match will be confirmed in due course.
