Mauricio Pochettino paid tribute to the players after a statement performance and 3-1 win against Chelsea on Saturday.

Goals from Dele, Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son secured the three points, ended Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season and lifted us above the Blues into third in the Premier League with our 10th win in 13 matches.

The players were wired in from the first whistle. They pressed high, won possession and looked to play forward quickly, creating a succession of chances. Indeed, we could have been out of sight by half-time with goals from Dele and Harry and Sonny denied twice by Kepa Arrizabalaga and narrowly off target on another two occasions.

The South Korean star soon made amends with a goal to remember 10 minutes into the second half, a run from halfway into the box, side-stepping David Luiz before slotting home for 3-0. Olivier Giroud’s late header was merely a consolation for the visitors.

I don’t need to say too much, I don’t need to talk - just give the credit to the players

“The players were fantastic and their attitude was amazing,” said Mauricio. “Now the big challenge is to be consistent and to show that performance is a thing to be optimistic for the future.

“For now, we keep going and prepare in the best way for the next game, step by step, thinking we can do everything if we have the right attitude like tonight.

“It was a fantastic performance. The players were very good. I’m so happy. I don’t need to say too much, I don’t need to talk, just give the credit to the players. They talk on the pitch and they need to be praised by everybody.”

Mauricio had words of praise for Sonny after his wonderful goal - his first in the Premier League this season and 50th for the Club.

“It was a fantastic performance from him and all the team,” added Mauricio. “I’m happy because he’s a nice guy and now he’s building his fitness again. It was a difficult period for him in the summer.

"We have a difficult time ahead and it’s important to have everyone fit and ready to compete.”
