Harry Kane felt that our patience and belief was crucial to Tuesday night’s Champions League victory over PSV Eindhoven.

In a must-win game at Wembley, we faced an uphill challenge from the start after going behind to Luuk de Jong’s header in the second minute.

We pressed relentlessly to get back into the match, but the Eredivisie leaders remained resolute in defence while Jeroen Zoet’s inspired performance between the sticks thwarted our advances on every occasion.

That was until captain on the night Harry popped up twice to score in the last 12 minutes to turn the game on its head and seal our first three points of this season’s Champions League campaign.

Delighted with the win that keeps our hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages well and truly alive, the England striker pointed to the belief and patience within the side, which got us over the line.

“It was a tough one,” Harry reflected. “Obviously conceding that early wasn’t ideal and then we created chance after chance. It was just a case of knocking that wall down.

“Their keeper made some fantastic saves, we could probably have been a bit more clinical on a couple of others, but we kept going.

“You have to stay as patient as you can and believe, believe that a chance is going to come our way and that we’re going to take it and then, we’re going to get another one.

“When it went to 1-1, there was still 10 minutes plus stoppage time left and we knew we had plenty of time to carry on knocking that wall down.

“We kept fighting until the end, we knew it was our last chance to stay in the Champions League and we managed to turn it around.”

We’ve said before that we had to win all three games to stay alive and we’ve won this one, so nothing changes.

The win over PSV has boosted our hopes of reaching the next stage of the competition but there is still much work to do with just two games left.

We face a difficult test against Inter at Wembley at the end of November and, with the Italian side currently sitting three points in front of us, we know we must take maximum points ahead of our Matchday Six trip to leaders Barcelona.

“We’ve said before that we had to win all three games to stay alive and we’ve won this one, so nothing changes,” Harry added.

“Our group of course is very tough. PSV are a strong side and have shown that here. We can’t control other results, so we just have to beat Inter next and go from there.”
