Ben Davies joined the chorus of approval for Davinson Sanchez's performances in his first season at Spurs.
The Colombian international looked at home immediately as he featured in 31 of our 38 Premier League matches in 2017-18, starting 29 and was the only player to start all eight games in the Champions League.
Signed from Ajax, Davinson, just 21, made quite an impression in his new surroundings as we finished third in the Premier League and qualified again for the Champions League next season.

Davinson's 2017-18
Still only 21, Davinson enjoyed a fine first season at Spurs and in the Premier League...
- Started 29 of 31 appearances in the Premier League
- Made 41 appearances in all competitions
- The only player to start all eight of our matches in the Champions League
- And helped Colombia qualify for the World Cup!
It's safe to say Ben, who enjoyed his best season in a Spurs shirt with 26 starts in the Premier League and 38 appearances in our 55 matches in all competitions, was impressed with how quickly Davinson settled in at the centre of our defence.
"Davinson has been different class and it’s easy to forget how young he is with the way he’s played," said the Welsh full-back, now preparing for an international against Mexico in Los Angeles in the early hours of Tuesday.
"He’s made it look easy in his first season in the Premier League.
"People talk about how defenders need to be unbelievable ball players but as a defender you are there to stop the goals and defend the team, that’s the priority.
Davinson has showed everyone how important it is to defend
"There's no messing around with Davinson. He makes his tackles, wins his headers and tries to keep a clean sheet. That’s what a defender should want.
"We’ve had to scrap, we’ve had to defend and as a defender, those are the games you love, when you’ve put your body on the line, you are winning headers, making blocks, that’s the bread and butter.
"He’s a pleasure to play alongside and he and Jan have complemented each other so well, driving each other on. As a defensive unit, I think we've done well again."
