We’ve rubbed shoulders with the sporting elite during a fantastic week in Los Angeles.
All major professional sports have been covered with visits from or to clubs or players from the NFL, NBA and NHL with Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff attending the MLS derby between LAFC and LA Galaxy on Thursday evening.
Steve Nash, NBA legend, Spurs fan
Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), eight-time All Star, Steve’s father was born in Tottenham and he was a regular at White Hart Lane as a youngster with his father and granddad before moving to Canada.
Speaking about our new stadium, Steve said: “I can’t wait. All the fans of the Club are really excited.
“They will now get to watch in one of the best venues in the world and also the fact that it represents our Club and what it stands for, the level we want to attain, is a great symbol.
“I can’t wait to get over there.”
LA Kings, NHL
We were joined by two members of the LA Kings ice hockey team and a Kings legend at training at LMU on Monday.
Paul Ladue (defenseman), Michael Amadio (forward) and Daryl Evans, who spent 10 years in the NHL and earned legendary status at the Kings with the winning goal in a match known as the ‘Miracle on Manchester’ when Kings came from 5-0 down to beat Wayne Gretzky’s Edmonton Oilers 6-5 in a play-off match in 1982.
Andrelton Simmonds, Angels, MLB
Born in Curacao, part of the Netherlands Antilles, Andrelton caught the eye of MLB scouts when he led West Oklahoma State College to the NJCAA Division Two title in 2010.
He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2010, made his MLB debut in 2012 and won the MLB’s ‘Golden Glove’ – awarded to players displaying outstanding fielding performances - in 2013. He joined the LA Angels in 2016.
Andrelton has represented the Netherlands and spoke to our Dutch international goalkeeper Michel Vorm at training.
Ledley skates with Anaheim Ducks, NHL
After a break of approximately 25 years, our legendary former skipper and Club Ambassador Ledley King stepped back on the ice for a special ice hockey clinic with Ducks’ captain Ryan Getzlaf on Monday.
“It was really, really difficult,” said Ledley. “It takes about half-an-hour to get ready! I’d not skated for about 25 years, but I still thought I’d be able to do it. Silly me!"
First Pitch, Angels, MLB
It was out of the ice rink and into the cauldron of the traditional Ceremonial First Pitch for Ledley as he took this US sporting honour ahead of the Angels’ MLB match against Chicago White Sox.
“I know Harry (Kane) nailed it at the Cubs in Chicago, I was there, but it’s not easy,” said Ledley. “It’s different out there on the pitcher’s mound. It seems like nothing but it makes all the difference.”
How did he get on? Watch the video above!
Casey Hayward, LA Chargers, NFL
Christian Eriksen hooked up with LA Chargers’ cornerback Casey Hayward for a special NFL television feature called ‘Game Recognize Game’ at LMU on Tuesday.
The feature will run on the NFL networks closer to the start of the NFL season in early September.

Casey began his career at Green Bay Packers before joining the Chargers in 2016 where his performances have led to two NFL All Star appearances.
I’m like 'wow, I heard this guy's name during the World Cup
Casey said: “I was told I was meeting Christian Eriksen and I’m like 'wow, I heard this name during the World Cup'. And when we actually got to talk, he was super cool.
“We talked about his World Cup goal and how young he was when he actually started playing professional football. It was crazy to hear.
"I was super excited to get to meet and compete with one of the best football players in the world. I wish him much success and hopefully I can come check out a game during our off-season."
LA Clippers, NBA
On Tuesday, Serge Aurier, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Erik Lamela, GK Nkoudou and Moussa Sissoko switched the training pitch at LMU for the courts at LA Clippers’ training facility and shot a few hoops with NBA star Jerome Anderson.

Still only 21, Jerome was 18th overall draft pick for the Clippers in 2018.
The players swapped shirts and met Clippers’ mascot Chuck the Condor.
