Tanganga nets in England Under-19s win

Japhet Tanganga was on target as England’s youngsters began their defence of the European Under-19 Championship with a 3-2 victory over Turkey in Finland on Tuesday.
Development Squad defender Japhet got forward to turn home Elliot Embleton’s free-kick and level the scores mid-way through the first half, after Turkey had taken an early lead.
Japhet, always so dangerous for us at attacking set-pieces, went close to grabbing a second goal five minutes before the break but saw his shot blocked in the box.
Ben Brereton and Embleton subsequently scored to ensure the Young Lions got off to a winning start in spite of a late Turkey charge.
Japhet completed the full 90 minutes, with Ukraine up next for England on Friday (4.30pm UK).
