This past weekend, Club Ambassador Ledley King gave the starters’ orders for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice’s ‘Rainbow Run’ at Trent Park in Barnet.
The former Club captain joined participants in a ‘HulaFit’ warm up before cutting the ribbon to officially start the race. He signed the runners’ Rainbow Run t-shirts, posed for selfies and signed autographs for fans.
The Rainbow Run is an annual fun run where families run a 1.5km ‘Little Loop’ or a 5km ‘Big Loop’ whilst being showered with coloured powder. After completing the run, Ledley and Noah’s Ark’s mascot Henry the Hippo joined participants whilst they enjoyed activities such as face painting, live music and a bouncy castle. Over 180 people took part in the event which raised £11,300 for the charity.
It has been fantastic to see so many people here today supporting a cause that is so close to everyone at Tottenham Hotspur
Ledley said: “It has been fantastic to see so many people here today supporting a cause that is so close to everyone at Tottenham Hotspur. I have had the privilege of meeting some of the families who are supported by Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice and hearing how the charity helps them. It’s great that we can help promote such a worthy cause.”
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice is the Club’s Official Charity Partner and the Club has supported the charity for the past two seasons. The partnership, which has recently been extended into the 2018-2019 football season, sees the Club help raise awareness of the charity’s ‘Hospice at Home’ service across North London. This supports children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and helps to drive the recruitment of volunteers via high profile events and the support of First Team players.
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has begun construction of The Ark, a children’s hospice building to serve North and Central London which is due to open to families in spring 2019.
