Japhet set for Young Lions campaign

England squad named for Under-19 Euros

Young defender Japhet Tanganga has been named in the England Under-19s squad for the European Under-19 Championship finals in Finland this month.

Winners of the competition last year, England face Turkey tomorrow (Tuesday 17 July), Ukraine on Friday 20 July and, finally, France on Monday 23 July in the group stage.

Should England progress from their group as one of the top two and reach the semi-finals, they will also qualify for next year’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland.

A regular in our Development Squad, powerful right-sided centre-half Japhet was previously part of the England Under-20s squad that won the Toulon Tournament in June, 2017.

He starred in our Under-19 UEFA Youth League campaign during 2017/18, starting seven of our eight games and scoring in home wins against Real Madrid and APOEL.
