A specialist panel of judges have selected St Mary’s Church of England High School to represent the Club in this season’s Premier League Enterprise Challenge.

The Enterprise Challenge, now in its 10th year, is a national initiative run by the Premier League in partnership with Sport Relief. It sets Year 9 and 10 students a business-related task specifically based around football and 32 professional clubs from across the country take part each year.

This year, pupils were tasked to develop a business plan and promotional campaign to increase the number of young adults following the Club and attending matches.

Students from Gladesmore Community School, St Mary’s Church of England High School, St Andrew The Apostle School and Enfield Grammar School were invited to Hotspur Way to each deliver a five-minute presentation to a judging panel which consisted of Ledley King, our legendary former defender and Club Ambassador, Chris Paouros, Co-Chair of Proud Lilywhites, Kevin Fitzgerald, Board bember of the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust and members of staff from the Club.

St Mary’s designed a campaign to engage people aged between 18 and 23 by proposing to offer them pre-match offers such as discounts at stadium food and drink outlets, organise half-time competitions and gifting goodie bags filled with merchandise.

The students will represent the Club in the regional play-offs which are due to take place at Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday 30 January. Here, they will present their ideas to a panel of judges from the world of football and business.

Myri Demetriou, Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Enterprise Coordinator and Tutor, said: “The Enterprise Challenge is a fantastic initiative that encourages young people in the Club’s local area to take an interest in the business side of a professional football club. We hope that the students go on to do well in the next round and they can go on to win this year’s competition.”
