Club supports Rainbow Laces campaign

Tonight, we shall be joining clubs and organisations throughout the game to support this year’s Stonewall Rainbow Laces campaign as part of our commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion for all.

Stonewall is the UK’s leading charity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) equality both in England and overseas and works within football to promote the acceptance of the LGBT+ community and address homophobia in football.

During the game, the famous Wembley arch will be lit up in rainbow colours and bespoke rainbow branding will be on display throughout the stadium. The Club’s social media accounts will also feature rainbow-coloured avatars to help promote the Stonewall campaign.

The Club continues to work closely with Proud Lilywhites, our official LGBT+ Supporters’ group, which was formed in 2014 to engage LGBT+ Spurs fans. At half-time Helen Richardson-Walsh, Olympic gold medallist, Spurs fan and Patron of Proud Lilywhites, will be interviewed about her role with the organisation.

Proud Lilywhites is one of the founding members of the Pride in Football LGBT+ fan group alliance, and regularly runs training sessions and educational workshops for our stewards, staff and local school students, as well as supporting national campaigns such as Kick it Out and Fans for Diversity.

This year, Proud Lilywhites have worked with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation to recruit a dedicated LGBT+ Officer - a first in football. Leah Stone runs LGBT+ workshops and youth groups out of Percy House, the Foundation’s headquarters and a major community enterprise, employment and skills hub. She also works closely with Proud Lilywhites and other local organisations such as Haringey Council, Haringey Sixth Form College, London Romans and the Metropolitan Police to provide support for the LGBT+ community in the Borough.
