Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Lucas Moura cried tears of joy after his two-goal show in our memorable 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian speedster truly arrived as a Spurs player on the big stage in the Premier League.

Impressive in pre-season after joining us from PSG in January, Lucas earned his place in Mauricio’s starting 11 for the opener at Newcastle and hasn’t looked back.

He followed up his first Premier League goal – a beauty in the 3-1 win against Fulham – with a Man of the Match display in our 3-0 win against United and a deserved double. Harry Kane was also on the scoresheet.

Mauricio told us: “Two goals, two great goals...Lucas was fantastic. He was crying at the end of the game.

“Yes, he was very emotional. He surprised me, but to show that he had the quality at the top level was so important for him and today, against a very good team, he scored twice and it was very emotional for him.

“It’s important, he suffered a lot when he arrived from Paris St Germain. It’s always so difficult to adapt yourself in a new culture, a new team and now we find the place, the best position for him. I’m so happy for him.”

I am a person, I feel a lot of things so when the emotion comes...I just say 'thank you' to my team-mates for everything

It was later pointed out to Lucas that Mauricio had mentioned his tears...

He said: “Yes, because last season wasn’t so good for me and I had difficult moments and now I am playing for a big team, playing at Old Trafford and I scored. It’s very special, like I said to you, with my family, my wife, my son, everyone is happy, my family in Brazil as well, so I need to enjoy it.

“I am a person, I feel a lot of things so when the emotion comes...I just say 'thank you' to my team-mates for everything. It’s a very good moment for me.”
